From China to the Carolinas

cl-china-carolinas-100Carolina Live pays a musical trip to China - Van Cliburn gold medalist Haochen Zhang plays Mozart, Brahms and Stravinsky, from a January 2010 recital at the Halton Theater in Charlotte, NC; and Tan Dun's Concerto for Pipa and Strings is played by pipa virtuoso Wu Man and the South Carolina Philharmonic in a November 2009 concert that also featured Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition at the Koger Center for the Arts in Columbia, SC. Each of the soloists also offers a traditional Chinese folk tune.
