Western Piedmont Symphony: 2012-2013 Masterworks III

Kontras QuartetIn February of 2012 the Western Piedmont Symphony in Hickory, NC welcomed pianist Andreas Klein for a program featuring Beethoven’s first piano concerto, bookended by a character piece by Afro-British composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Tchaikovsky’s final symphony. Then from a Chamber Classics concert presented in May of 2012, the orchestra’s resident quartet was augmented by two additional string players for more Tchaikovsky: a performance of his popular musical postcard from Florence.
