The Gospel at Colonus

sp11-HR-bob-telson-150Fusing a radical bond between the Greek pagan story of Oedipus at Colonus by Sophocles and gospel music, composer, pianist, and musical director Bob Telson has created The Gospel at Colonus.

The show was written in 1983.  It brings a new outlook on the old story and incorporates influences from traditional black gospel music, the music of Stevie Wonder, and Telson's classical upbringing.   Telson speaks with host Sam van Hallgren about his show and its residency at the Spoleto Festival USA 2011.
